Exchange program – Delhi University, India

As of 2009, the Department of Philosophy has a graduate student exchange program with the Department of Philosophy at Delhi University, India. This program allows eligible students to take up to two courses for credit at the partner department, or spend up to 12 months doing research on an MA or PhD dissertation. The program would benefit University of Ottawa students with an interest in studying Indian philosophy, comparative philosophy or social and political philosophy within the context of a developing nation—one that also happens to be the world’s largest democracy.

The Department of Philosophy at Delhi University is among the largest and most prestigious in India, with a program covering a wide variety of philosophical areas. It is a graduate studies department offering MA, MPhil and PhD degrees. The academic year there is divided into two semesters, the first beginning in the third week of July and ending in November, the second running from early January to late April. All formal instruction is delivered in English. Exchange students receive assistance in finding suitable accommodation and arranging other practical matters through a welcoming committee composed of department faculty members and graduate students at Delhi University.
